I was delighted when Peter and Elisha asked me to create a wedding film for their big day at Styal Lodge, Cheshire.
Styal Lodge is a family-run, bespoke wedding venue set in the peaceful National Trust village of Styal, in the beautiful Cheshire countryside. This exclusive, contemporary venue has everything you’d want for a unique Cheshire wedding and I couldn’t wait to create this wedding video.
Styal Lodge, Cheshire
Styal Lodge is an exclusive use venue, licensed to hold wedding ceremonies for up to 150 guests. It’s also a beautifully open canvas of a venue, which means couples can put their own stamp on their day and fill the venue with personality. Ideally for me as a wedding videographer, it’s also a venue filled with natural light, which always helps to create fantastic wedding films!
On the morning of the wedding, I joined Elisha and the bridal party to capture some bridal prep footage for the wedding video. I always enjoy being there to film at bridal prep: it’s such an exciting time of the day and a good chance to get to know the family. Styal Lodge has a specially-built bridal sitting room for brides to use as a private room throughout the wedding day. Overlooking the garden, it has an en-suite bathroom and dressing table so it’s the perfect place to get ready, and I captured some footage of Elisha and her bridesmaids enjoying a glass of fizz or two while being pampered. Elisha looked stunning in her dress, and her bouquet contained Scottish thistle in homage to her dad’s birthplace.
As a wedding videographer it’s always a treat to film a father’s reaction when he sees his daughter for the first time, and Alexa’s dad certainly didn’t disappoint, getting quite emotional at the dress reveal! He denied this in his speech later, but everyone at the wedding knew the real truth!
Then it was time for the main event. Peter and Alesha had their wedding ceremony in the light, airy, wood-panelled Lodge, surrounded by their family and friends. I captured some really moving footage of the couple saying their vows in front of views of the beautiful gardens and the Cheshire countryside beyond. One funny moment came when the celebrant got Petes name wrong during the ring exchange! It’s little moments like this that really see wedding videography come into its own: as a wedding videographer I love knowing that I’ve captured a little moment of someone’s day that they’ll then be able to remember forever, and look back on and smile.
Wedding Videography at Styal Lodge, Cheshire
One of my favourite things about wedding videography at Styal Lodge is the stunning setting. Styal Lodge is tucked away in the grounds of Styal Golf Club, and the venue is surrounded by private gardens which are perfect for a drinks reception. There is also a picturesque lake area where I captured some lovely footage of Peter and Elisha together after the ceremony. I think these romantic shots will take pride of place in the finished wedding video!
We then moved inside for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The best man made us all laugh with his speech, especially when he talked about Elisha’s attempts to mimic his northern Irish accent whilst saying ‘power shower’! There was then a memorable cake cutting where the bride and groom cut the cake with a sword: again, definitely a moment that will feature in the wedding film!
The evening party certainly didn’t disappoint, with the guests all having a fantastic time at this brilliant Cheshire wedding venue.
